West meets East

WHAKi's West meets East is the band's sophomore release from the Satellite. Broadcasting on a wide spectrum of sounds from all genres WHAKi show us that the universe is indeed expanding. It is the meeting in the center of two points. Tap into the Satellite.

Guitarist Zakk Kuzda traveled from Portland, Oregon to meet drummer Judd Higgins in Savannah to record West meets East in a closet rehearsal room. WHAKi jammed for a solid week and then worked via the intertrons to produce several diverse tracks. Spanning most genres, from garage rock to electro to country to soundtrack, West meets East sees Zakk and Judd breaking out of the guitar/drum mold and incorporating synthesizers, guiro, and vocals.

Half and Half, the West meets East Bonus DVD

The companion to the CD in the West meets East Half and Half Version (only available at the WHAKi shop) contains a 30 minute documentary on the making of West meets East, 13 bonus tracks, including an audio commentary on the making of Thrown Down, as well as remixes and variations of several songs on West meets East.

WHAKi (the album)

WHAKi's eponymous album is the culmination of the first seven years of the duo's work. Featuring tracks from their early years in high school to improvisational jams after years apart, WHAKi the album gets you tapped into the prototype Satellite.
